Dear Martin Road Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of our new families and returning families to the 2021- 2022 school year! I hope you had an enjoyable summer. I am excited to return to Martin Road Elementary, after working for three years at our Central Office in the Special Education Department. I have worked for about ten years as a special education teacher in the North Tonawanda City School District before pursuing administration and joining the Lackawanna City School District. After the difficulty our country and community has gone through in the past couple of years, I am thrilled to join the Martin Road school community to support students, families and teachers.

I would like to introduce Mr. Bruce Axelson as our Assistant Principal. His 20 plus years of educational experience will be a true asset to our educational community.

As the school year quickly approaches, there are some important pieces of information that we want all families to be aware of:

*The first day of school is September 1, 2021. This is a full day. For the safety of your children, parents will not be permitted to walk children to their classrooms. We have faculty and staff at the entrances to assist students finding their new classrooms.

NEW TIMES:
8:05 AM - DOORS OPEN
8:20 AM - HOMEROOM
2:35 PM - DISMISSAL

  • School hours are 8:20am until 2:35pm each day. Breakfast will be served from 8:05am until 8:15 am. All students are eligible for free breakfast and free lunch. Children are considered late after 8:20 am and will need to stop in the office for a late pass.
  • Supervision is provided starting at 8:05 am when the doors open. Please do not bring your child to school before 8:05 am as there is no supervision.
  • Please notify the school and the Registrar immediately of any change in address or phone number. The Registrar can be contacted at 716-821-5610 ext. 7703. (Changes of address will require two proofs of residency).
  • If you are picking your child up from school, please report to the main office to sign your child out by 2:20pm. No students will be dismissed between 2:20 pm-2:35 pm and no child will be called down for dismissal once buses have been called. Your child will take the bus home unless he/she has been signed out by a parent/guardian. Only a parent / guardian is allowed to pick up a student unless we have written permission. If you need to pick up your child before dismissal, please send in a note to your child’s teacher that morning. Children will not be allowed to walk or ride bikes home, unless we have written permission. Please understand that these protocols are set in place for the safety of all of our students.
  • If you choose to make your child a walker for the school year, please send a note stating that your child has your permission to walk for the entire school year. All students assigned a bus in the beginning of the year will be considered bus students unless we have this in writing from you. This is required each school year.
  • Whenever coming to school, we ask you to please NOT PARK alongside the curb in the main parking lot. We have put up “NO PARKING” signs to remind you. We have plenty of parking spots in our main parking lot to accommodate cars.
  • Breakfast and lunch will be served on the first day of school.
  • If you do not receive bus information from WNY Bus Co. by August 31st, please call our Transportation Department at (716) 821-5610.
  • All bus changes must be made through the Transportation Department.

As we continue throughout the summer to work on putting safety protocols in place, another letter will come home with your child’s teacher.

Incoming Second graders and families are invited to attend a tour of Martin Road and meet the Principals on Tuesday, August 24th at 10:00AM.

I am looking forward to a spectacular year.

    Best regards,

    Julie Andreozzi
    Principal, Martin Road Elementary School
