Martin Road Elementary School

Fourth graders in Ms. Blaszkowiak’s classroom are building their understanding of multi-digit whole-number subtraction by using place value. Students are digging into the why behind the math, making connections between each digit’s value, and using their understanding of place value to solve and explain their thinking. Through hands-on models, discussion, and mathematical reasoning, students are making connections between place value and the standard algorithm while explaining and justifying their thinking.
