Our third-grade students in Mrs. Janiga and Mrs. O'Connor's class are taking their reading comprehension skills to the next level by using the compare and contrast strategy to analyze texts. This powerful tool helps students make connections, understand key differences and similarities, and gain a deeper understanding of the material.
The class worked in small groups to compare and contrast the story, allowing for more personalized instruction and focused discussions. In these smaller groups, students had the opportunity to express their ideas more freely, ask questions, and collaborate with their peers.
This setting also allowed Mrs. Janiga and Mrs. O'Connor to provide tailored support to each group, ensuring that every student had a chance to engage with the text at their own level.
