Students work in class

This week, Martin Road 4th grade students in Mrs. Gagliardo's class dove into an exploration of perspectives, learning that the author’s point of view is also known as their perspective. They discovered the importance of respecting different perspectives and understanding that not everyone views things the same way.

To bring this concept to life, students shared their own perspectives on topics such as going to the dentist and buying new school clothes.

Through the engaging Mix-Match-Freeze activity, students asked their teacher and classmates for their points of view on these topics. This interactive exercise helped them see the world through others’ eyes and appreciate diverse opinions.

As a whole group, students listened to the poem “Bat” and shared with a partner what they believed was the author's feelings about bats. To deepen their understanding, they used text evidence to support their interpretations of how the author truly feels about these fascinating creatures.

This week’s activities helped students build critical thinking and empathy while reinforcing the importance of textual analysis and evidence-based reasoning.

Great job to all our budding thinkers and authors!
