Martin Road students hold up items they are sending to Batavia Veterans

At Martin Road Elementary, students brought joy to the hearts of veterans at the Batavia VA Hospital through heartfelt actions. Engaging in the Valentine’s for Veterans program, our students created handmade cards and generously donated essential supplies to support veterans in need in our community and at the hospital.

Cindy Baker, Volunteer Services Specialist at the Batavia VA Hospital, shared the veterans' gratitude with the following note:

“Martin Road Elementary,

Thank you so much for the beautiful Valentine’s Day cards and all the goodies you got for our Veterans. They were very surprised and happy. Nothing puts a bigger smile on their faces than to get a handmade card from a student. It really means a lot to them. Thank you for the smiles you put on their faces!”

Acknowledging the event sponsors, SERVPRO and the Blue Star Mothers NY7, they highlighted Martin Road's exceptional efforts, potentially collecting the most items among all participating schools. We extend our appreciation to our students, staff, and families who contributed to this impactful initiative, demonstrating our commitment to supporting local veterans and making a positive difference in the community.
