Student with artworkDuring the month of March, Martin Road Elementary School celebrated Read Across America Day with a virtual Family Night.

The Family Night had three Dr. Seuss-themed activities for families to work on together. The first activity was a coloring contest, with about 100 entries brightening Martin Road's hallways with beautiful colors. One winner was selected for each grade level. The winner for second grade was Mrs. Marcin’s student Bradley Barrett. The winner for third grade was Mrs. Harling’s student Muhammad Saad Siddiqui. The fourth-grade winner was Mrs. Gaj’s student Raneem Fadhel. Mrs. Carroccia’s student Winner Nyirabizimana was the grade five champion!

The second activity was an estimation game. The students received a photo in their email of our “one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish” themed candy bowl. They were asked to estimate how many fish were in the dish. The answer was 618 fish! Third grader Connor Strong took the win with his guess of 600 fish!

The big Family Fun Night event was a virtual bingo game. Around 50 families joined the event on Microsoft Teams for the bingo games. Families played four rounds of bingo, with about 10 winners!

All winners won a pack of Scholastic books to take home and enjoy! Thank you to everyone who participated!
